The Original Shipibo Plant Medicine Initiation
What is a Master Plant Dieta?
The master plant dieta is not a more advanced version of an ayahuasca retreat. It is a different animal entirely.
The framework we work with at Inin Nete is initiatory and cosmological. You become an initiate by being woven into an unbroken lineage.
In Shipibo, the diet is called a sama, and the dieter a samati. A maestro orchestrates a direct connection between the samati and a master plant spirit, fusing trans-species consciousness and energetic bodies. You are going in to become someone who has a direct, living, permanent relationship with a non-human intelligence — a plant spirit who will teach you and guide you for the rest of your life.
Dieting at Inin Nete
The master plant dieta is the central focus of our work at Inin Nete and in the Shipibo tradition. The healers are bridges between worlds, trained through decades of disciplined intimacy with the spirits of the plants. With a 2-4 healers and a maximum of ten participants per retreat, you receive personalized treatments, and are held inside a caring, protected container.
The plants are conscious beings with distinct character and sovereign authority within the relationship.
Ayahuasca and the Dieta
Ayahuasca is a spiritual hospital. Master plants are the surgeons and specialists who come into the hospital to perform specialized care and customized, deeper healing.
Ayahuasca is top down — cosmic insights arrive in a language that’s hard to miss. The dieta is bottom up — daily practice, prayer, dreams, integrity.
The plant spirit world is a library, and without a master plant dieta, you can’t check out any books. The dieta is your library card.
The Plant Chooses You
You don’t choose the plant. The plant chooses you. The maestros are the messengers and carriers.
In your first ceremony, the priority is diagnostic. During that ceremony or in a dream after, the healers will receive your plant — the one suited to your particular healing, your history, your constitution, the work that’s actually yours to do.
Sometimes people read a small list of human-made descriptions of the plants that are popular and sell well. The maestros know thousands in the entire pharmacy.
If ayahuasca teaches you how to walk, the dieta teaches you how to fly.
What Dieting Asks of You
To protect your relationship with your plant, you maintain as much energetic solitude as possible — limited contact, silence, fasting, strict protocol. Without silence, you cannot hear the plant. Dreams become the primary channel. Every sleep cycle is a ceremony.
The plants reward discipline because that is what’s necessary for a clean connection. If you fix your phone line, they’ll give you a call.
What You Carry Home
You arrive home with a new roommate, partner, and guide. You don’t integrate this other being, just like you don’t integrate a new bride after the wedding. You cohabitate.
That’s the reward of this process. You will always have this being with you. You will have access to information that other humans don’t have. You will be able to see, hear, sense, and know things that others can’t.
The plants will always meet you halfway.
A dieta is a discipline wrapped in prayer.
Is This For You?
This is not a beginner’s path. If you have sat in ayahuasca ceremonies before and feel called to go deeper — not for stronger visions but for a living relationship — this work may be for you.
Maricela says: the plants want your presence, not your perfection.
We invite you to reach out to begin a conversation.
MEET YOUR HOSTS

Francisco & Maricela - Maestros
Maestros Francisco Huayta (Shipibo name Rheshimanhu) and Maricela Rios Inuma (Shipibo name Inkanrina) together have nearly 50 years of experience serving Ayahuasca and working other plant medicines from the Amazon jungle, with a total of 70 plant diets.
Francisco comes from a powerful lineage of healers including his grandfather who was a muraya, the most masterful level of plant medicine workers. A respected elder in his community, he was called to the medicine after a snake bite nearly took his life. It should have killed him instantly, but he survived 8 months – long enough to cure his illness. After this, his reputation grew and members from the community began seeking him out. He carries the immaculate energy of Christ-consciousness that uniquely offers healing to those who have suffered religious trauma.
Maricela’s ancestors also come from the Shipibo lineage as well as the Amazonian mountains. Her healing journey began at the age of 13 when her grandfather gave her huayra caspi to completely cure ails with her menstruation. Since then she has worked with over thirty master plants – her greatest being noya rao, with which she has a profound connection. She brings a powerful grandmother energy that grounds the space with feminine energy and warmth.
With great love and care, Francisco and Maricela help all who desire healing from the plants in the physical, mental, psychological, karmic, energetic, and spiritual forms. Their passion is for others to connect deeply with the plants to gain wisdom and understanding from this ancient tradition so that they may transform their lives.
They are joined by their children, powerful indigenous healers in their own right.

What Is a Plant Medicine Sauna?
Saunas, or vapor baths, are an essential tool used to prepare and support guests in their ayahuasca ceremonies. With Maestros Francisco and Maricela, guests will steam with master plants that help clear heavy energies, open visions, and allow the body to receive healing, leading to deeper and more clarifying ceremonies. This is not merely a physical experience – it can bring up deep emotions and provide healing on every level.
What Is a Flower Bath?
Flower baths are a sacred cleansing ritual that invite the spirit of ayahuasca to penetrate more deeply, allowing for a more profound connection and healing experience. They do this by allowing us to become more like lovely flowers before entering the plant spirit world.
